Bluenose Studio is a photography studio at 19 Alma Crescent, Unit 203, Halifax, Nova Scotia. We photograph nine things: professional headshots ($99 to $299), corporate and team headshots ($650 to $1,200), maternity sessions ($149 to $299), family sessions ($149 to $249), couples sessions ($149 to $249), birthday and celebration sessions ($149 to $249), graduation portraits ($119 to $209), Christmas mini sessions ($149), and hourly studio rental from $75 per hour. All prices exclude HST; Nova Scotia's 14% is added at checkout.Sessions are shot at our Halifax studio, except corporate team headshots, which we can also shoot at your office anywhere in the Halifax Regional Municipality. You receive edited images only, delivered in 5 to 7 business days, with personal and commercial use included.We do not offer wedding photography, event coverage, newborn or baby sessions, product photography, or food and menu photography.

Do you offer a free consultation before my photo session?

Yes, and it is free. Before any session we will spend 10 to 15 minutes with you by phone (902-718-9007) or email (sales@bluenosemarketing.com) confirming which package fits, agreeing on outfits and backdrop colours, and answering questions about the space. There is no charge and no obligation.Studio rental clients can also book a free 15-minute walkthrough of the studio at 19 Alma Crescent, Unit 203, Halifax, any day between 11am and 8pm.A consultation is not required to book. A $50 deposit holds any portrait or headshot session ($99 to $299) and the balance is due immediately after the shoot; corporate bookings take a 50% deposit instead. All prices exclude HST, which is 14% in Nova Scotia.

Are sessions at your studio or can we choose a location in Halifax (HRM)?

Almost every session is shot at our studio at 19 Alma Crescent, Unit 203, Halifax, NS. That includes all headshots ($99 to $299), maternity, family, couples and birthday sessions ($149 to $299), Christmas mini sessions ($149) and studio-only grad portraits ($119). Shooting indoors means no weather risk and identical lighting in December and June.There are two on-location options. Grad Portraits - Studio + Campus is $209 and pairs a studio sitting with photos on your Halifax campus. Corporate team headshots can be shot at your own office: $850 for up to 10 people in 2 hours, or $1,200 for up to 20 people over 4 hours, with travel anywhere in the Halifax Regional Municipality included. Outside HRM is quoted separately. For an on-site corporate shoot we need roughly a 10 x 10 ft space with access to a power outlet.All prices exclude HST, which is 14% in Nova Scotia.

What if I need to reschedule or if the weather is bad on our shoot day?

You can reschedule free of charge with at least 48 hours' notice. Email sales@bluenosemarketing.com or call 902-718-9007 and we will move you to any open slot. Inside 48 hours the $50 deposit is forfeited, and on corporate bookings the 50% deposit is forfeited.Weather is rarely a factor. Every session except Grad Portraits - Studio + Campus ($209) and on-site corporate shoots ($850 and $1,200) is shot indoors at 19 Alma Crescent, Unit 203, Halifax, which is open 11am to 8pm seven days a week. For those two outdoor options we will move the date at no cost if the forecast is poor, even inside the 48-hour window.If you are unhappy with your images we will re-edit them or let you reselect from the same session at no charge. A reshoot is a new booking.

How should I prepare for my photo session (what should I wear, etc.)?

Arrive about 5 minutes early at 19 Alma Crescent, Unit 203, Halifax. Parking is free on site. If you need step-free access, use the rear entrance: it has a short ramp and no stairs. The front entrance has stairs and there is no lift.Bring one outfit per look. Quick Headshots ($99) covers 1 look on 1 backdrop, Professional Headshots ($179) covers 2 looks on 2 backdrops, and the Personal Branding Session ($299) covers 3 looks including standing, seated and environmental setups. Maternity Classic ($199) includes 2 outfits and your partner; Maternity Signature ($299) includes 3 outfits, your partner and one child.Solid mid-tone colours photograph best. Our backdrops are white, grey, black, brown, olive, blue, pink and baby pink, in paper and fabric, and swaps are unlimited at no charge. Avoid tight patterns, large logos and anything you have not worn before. There is a change room on site with a rack, mirror and steamer, plus free wifi and a washroom.One honest note about the space: the studio has an 8-foot ceiling and a 9-foot backdrop. That is excellent for headshots, seated work and waist-up portraits, and it is not the right room for full-length fashion with overhead booms. Comfortable capacity is 6 to 8 people.

Do you edit or retouch the photos after the session?

Yes, we do. Photo editing and retouching are included as part of our service for all the images we deliver. After the session, we go through all the photos and select the best ones, then edit each of those images to make sure they look amazing. This includes adjusting things like lighting, color balance, and cropping for optimal composition. We also perform basic retouching – for instance, we can smooth out minor skin blemishes or stray hairs and make sure the overall image quality is top-notch. The goal is to have you looking your best while still keeping the photos natural and true to life.

If you have specific retouching requests (for example, editing out a distraction in the background or doing a special stylized edit), we are happy to discuss that as well. Minor touch-ups are generally part of the package, but extensive Photoshop work or special effects can be done for an additional fee if needed. However, in most cases our standard editing covers everything clients want. We do not release unedited RAW images, because we believe in delivering a finished product that meets our professional quality standards. Rest assured, the final photos you receive will be beautifully edited, polished, and ready to print or share.
